I love patchwork

I just bought this I heart patchwork book by Rashida Coleman-Hale. I love how she chose color and fabric combination. My favorite projects are blossom pincushion and button calendar.

However This book take me to her lovely space I heart linen and introduced me to “Zakka” a style of art and craft that is simple, charming, and of Japanese esthetic. Most items in the zakka style are handmade…I learn and absorb most of my inspiration from Japanese handmade style. I always love Japanese simple but delicate design and now I know its call handmade Zakka style ^-^

Felt christmas flower tutorial

Ho Ho HO...I finally got a beautiful felt flower tutorial
  1. Prepare card paper, pen, felt, fabric scissors, pen, 5 coins(same size), needle & yarn.
  2. Place 5 coins in circle on paper then trace around and cut out template paper.
  3. Place template on felt, trace 4 petals and cut them out
  4. Fold it in half and place it perpendicular together, overlapping like in the picture
  5. Sew them together by stitching x then square around the center.....finish!

Next is the fun part, you can adapt it to head pin or ring or whatever... just use imagination. I made a red felt flower from small coins and green from bigger. Sew them together, place on headband and sew round piece of red felt on the back.

Here it is...

DIY orange ice cream

I try to post at least once a month and it turn out that I can do just once in a while. Think I should more manage. In my super busy life, this is what I love the most and make me calm. I like to do a lot of things in the same time so lot of little project was left in process... my sawing machine is dusty, I start crosstitching a new one (wish I can finish it within a year. It’s very huge one) and many many more..

This DIY felt orange ice cream set is easy and nice. I spent two day making and another week admire it and two minute take a photo…..and store in my hard disk for a week!!!

That how lazy I am.

Easier way to cutting felt

I think the hardest part of making felt work is cutting. After googling for easier way to cutting felt, I found out that many have the same question too. Some use taped pattern with felt, some use sand paper as a pattern. I'm a lil bit lazy so my trick is using little cloth pegs to pin pattern and felt together then cut it with a sharp scissor (for fabric). With cloth pegs, you can use the same pattern longer than taped it. When you finish cutting, It's just half way to go!

This is my DIY felt chocolate cake. Look delicious? ^_^

However, I realized that to do a crafty things is never easy. That's why it's called "HANDMADE"

Patchwork lessons

Patchwork lessons is a name of Japanese book. I read it and think I would enjoy pick a color, mix and match, cut fabrics to little pieces than sew it together again. There are 12 lessons in first book,I planed to sew lesson by lesson. Start with a pan holder in 25x25 cm. It's very small so I think it may take a day to finished it. Unfortunately, patchwork is not easy as it seem. It needs a lot of concentration. I made every mistake I can. I almost throw it away. Patchwork may not my type. However, I finished it last night.

Take a good look and you'll see that the letters is upside down and the square is not really square. It's a little bit too flat (because ironing too much , I think)

This side is very nice.

When I sew

Last month,I started a job as a graphic designer. First week of working is the hardest, there were tons of work waiting for me. My lifestyle is totally changed. I wake up very early and arrive home very late. I'm so tried from driving. When I reach home, I skips to my bedroom.

and dream of beading and baking and creat something nice!

Now, I stop blaming and start to find something new. I took a sewing class once a week. It's very fun. I'm so happy to saw my "work" appear from pieces of fabic. and I really want to show you all :)

My first is a little bag for my sunglasses, It's not so good though I'll fix it later
Let's see my second work, a mobile phone cover.

I'm working on my third bag now. Can't wait to finish it!

Handmade rubber stamps

Last Friday,I went out and bought some rubbers and ink.
Today, I carved rubbers all day!

Give it a try.
  1. Design and sketch your picture by draw a very thick line with 2B(or more) pencil.
  2. Flip the paper onto rubber and push push push. (then, you will see picture on the rubber)
  3. The hardest part is carving with cutter. (I can not find carving cutter anywhere even in Daiso T^T)
  4. Testing.
  5. Working in details.
  6. Finish
Don't worry, it will look so good in the end. Here is my first handmade rubber stamp.

Let's get crafty ^-^

That bear ate my key!

Thank Krutan for teaching me made this key cover. I joined this workshop at Siam Paragon. Making of this lovely bear key cover take me four and a half hours. For someone like me,it's not as easy as it look cause it's all hand sew that made my hand sore!

It's unbelievably useful because I always lost my key in my messy handbag. Now,my car key is easy to find.
